Effective Business Networking

by Dawn on August 10, 2009

If you run a business then business networking can be a cost effective way to spend the marketing budget – if it’s done properly!

Knowing what happens at a networking event and working out the point of going – why attend a business network meeting is the key to good preparation and that leads to effectiveness.

One of the biggest differences between networking groups is whether they’re online (on the Internet) or offline (with the focus on meetings) – but these days it’s usually a mixture of both and the difference is in the emphasis.

As for me – I like both. I’m a member of a few business networking groups:  Linked In for online, as it’s targeted to business professionals and for meetings, TWBC for a smaller group of people supporting each other to grow their businesses and for the fun 4Networking.

If you’ve never tried business networking, then put it in your marketing plan soon – and if you’re local, maybe I’ll see you soon. If you’re a regular networker, then I wonder if you’ve reviewed your reasons to attend a business network event.

Couldn’t agree more, networking has got to be the most cost effective ways to meet other like minded people, wether i visit the larger Acadia type events, or the smaller social events, I always come away with some sort of win, be it business or meeting new people. My biggest issue with the breakfast networking groups is my waist line, usually the breakfasts are fantastic, and lets face it, it can be hard to refuse a mountain of grease and cholestral.
