Tips Tuesday – Better Websites

Better Blog PostsA Top Tip to Improve Your Website Performance

This week I’m offering just one tip – but it’s an important one!

Most of us have a website and I wonder how often we look at how well it’s doing. I’ve talked before about how to avoid a woeful website – one of the subjects I speak about (quite loudly at times!)

Well, here’s how to improve your existing website. It takes a few steps, none of them difficult, none of them time consuming, all of them a good time investment to ensure best benefits from your website.

The Better Websites Process

It’s four steps to a better website:

  1. Decide what results you want, for example: to double the number of visitors signing up for my email newsletter next month, 500 visitors to my new service page
  2. Track results by collecting statistics – decide how you’re going to track results and start collecting statistics (lots of automated options out there!)
  3. Check actual results against planned results – did it work, are you achieving the results you want
  4. Decide what needs to be done – likely to be setting a new results goal, or working out what’s going wrong and trying something different – and then take action to do it

So, my tip this Tuesday for a better website is to set aside some time every quarter to review your results and take action. Simple really.
