I read some interesting research from the Open University this morning. Most small businesses in Britain (71% according to the report) aren’t making plans for post-recession recovery.
A number of reasons are given, including ‘doubts about the future’ – which seems a bit daft to me …don’t know what’s going to happen so I won’t bother to plan. Why not think about what COULD happen and plan for each of those things.
I wonder if it’s more a case that very few of the smallest businesses ever plan.
In terms of online presence and online marketing there are so many cost effective (and even free) tools available, that I’d argue you’d be better off doing something (anything!) rather than nothing, so why not plan your online campaigns for the next year (or quarter if a year seems a long time) – it doesn’t need to cost much and who knows the results may surprise you.
What do you think about planning for the recovery? Or planning in general – leave me a comment and let me know.
