Yesterday I held my first customer event – all about Social Media and in particular some interesting (surprising?) facts and figures.
I really enjoyed myself – but anyone who knows me knows that I love standing up and talking to people.
It wouldn’t have been possible without some help though. So, thank you to the folks at Roffey Park – amazing place and great customer service – and most importantly thank you to my customers who turned up to support me and the event.
Digital Marketing
I’d been working on the talk for a while, as you might imagine. I was talking about digital marketing and how social media fits into that, rather than a ‘how to’ or a training session. All the preparation made me rethink some of my marketing too and I wonder how often we actually sit down and review our marketing plans.
The plan can be as simple as four steps:
- Setting some goals:
- input goals, such as number of blog posts to write or number of people to follow on Twitter
- output goals, such as number of leads generated or number of signups to the newsletter
- Doing the activity
- Taking action yourself
- Asking a supplier to take action for you
- Measuring the result
- It’s so much easier online. Tools are there to give you more measurements than you’ll know what to do with (really!).
- I suggest keeping it simple, but making sure you look at and review the numbers.
- Making changes to the plan where needed
Social Media
After last night’s event there are still a number of questions I’d like to answer in more detail. I’ll be blogging about them over the next few weeks.
…and I can’t wait for the next customer event! If you’re a customer, I’ll see you there.
To My Customers
Once again, thank you and if you were there last night, leave a comment below and tell me what you thought about the event.

Thoroughly enjoyed last night’s event, Dawn. Very informative and got me thinking about how social media can get info out to my established clients, as well as reaching new ones.
Looking forward to your next event!
Good morning Dawn.
I really enjoyed the event and the presentation. I was aware of blogs but was not aware how important these blogs are in the Social Media scene. I was astounded to see the statistics on how much can be gained from regular and interesting media blogs. I plan to set out a strategy and follow it through on a regular basis and to monitor the results.
Thanks again Debbie & Tony
Thanks for an intersting evening. Received some very useful tips on social media and also confirmation that I am doing some things right. I plan on getting more organised with my time and focus on what I need to do each day/week.
I’m so glad you all got something from it – and fab to have your comments.
I think it’s really important to choose how we’re going to use social media to make sure we get the best from it – and sounds like you’re going to do just that. let me know if I can help.
Thanks for the event Dawn. It helped to set everything in perspective and to set the foundations for producing a social media plan for the business. I just now need to make it happen!
