Blogging, an interesting topic. Well, I would say that wouldn’t I!
Last night I ran an event Blogging: Your Questions Answered where I presented a series of facts and figures and then the fun started – an interactive session where I attempted to answer everyone’s blogging questions. It worked and I answered just about all of them, with attendees sharing their knowledge too. One thing I found interesting was the huge range of questions, from basics to detail to the software to tools available.
I now have a range of topics I can blog about too and as they’ve come straight from real people with real questions they should be of interest to lots of people.
Generating Quality Content for Your Blog
I talked (briefly) about content and how we often underestimate the usefulness of what we know. Examining what we take for granted can make excellent blog posts.
Reflecting on last night also made me think about how often we take an opportunity to ask what our visitors and readers would like to know. Every question asked last night is a clue to what blog posts I could write. When people meet you, what do they ask? There’s the content for your next series of blog posts (or Tweets, or Facebook updates, or leaflet copy).
My Summary of Blogging: Your Questions Answered
It was brilliant! New phrases, questions I’d never been asked before, one question I’d never even considered… I had a good time and I hope everyone who attended did too.
Thank You to everyone who came along and helped make it a great evening – and that includes Roffey Park for the amazing mince pies, best ones I’ve had this year.
If you attended, please let me know what you thought of the event. Whether you attended or not, maybe you’d like to suggest other topics I could talk about.

A very informative evening with some great ideas for future bloggs Shame the mince pies were not slimming world friendly tho
Thanks for the evening Dawn. All helpful information. I really need my blog to work harder as I often feel as if I’m still talking to myself
I’m sure you’re not alone in that Mike!
Taking time to read and comment on other blogs will encourage other bloggers to visit your blog, especially if you build the relationships (e.g. RT their blog posts, answer their comments, etc).
I’m now off to visit your blog…
Dawn – thank you so much for last evenings presentation. It was so informative and, as alway, beautifully presented!
If you havent attended one of Dawn’s blogging events and you are in business for yourself, you really need to make it a priority.
Thank you for putting this on Dawn. Lots of useful information, and mince pies!
An idea for you is to look at the next part of blogging, writing a post, choosing a good headline, etc.
One thing I’ve been doing is looking for common themes in the questions or situations I come across to give ideas for blog posts. All that remains is to write and publish
Thanks Nick, Amanda and Robert.
Amazing how much press those mince pies are getting
A very enjoyable and informative event thank you, although I am now intrigued as to which question you had never even considered…?
Thanks Dawn. It was a wonderfully lucid explanation of blogging and the importance of linking up your social media output.
