About Dawn
You’d like to know more about me, Dawn Brewer? Are you Sure?
I write words for the web and then I put them live too, but what makes me the person to do that for you?
I write (as you know by now I’m sure). Samples of my work can be found on Suite101 as well as my blog. I also write websites and I write newsletters and I write blog posts and I write user guides and I’ll write whatever you need.
I help people by taking what they meant to say and turning it into words that others will understand – writing words and then also putting them live on websites, newsletters, article sites, blog pages, etc.
I’ve always been able to translate complex ideas into simple English, working in the messy gap between an IT department and the business, between technology and consumers, between what people mean to say and what they’ve actually said.
My background is in computing & IT, then I became a project manager, working on international projects which went across the business (not just IT). I have an MBA, which consolidated my business knowledge and in particular my marketing skills. I supported marketing departments in big companies when I worked in IT – always fascinated me how the systems we built frequently couldn’t deliver what marketing needed – and then had to learn the practicalities of marketing when I started working for myself in 1996.
I can’t leave the technology alone though – I love it!!
I left the corporate world behind and I now have a portfolio career – something that suits me well – it’s great fun (mostly). I write, I consult, I pass on my knowledge.
- I deal with many different clients and types of business.
- I pass on my skills and knowledge by working with The Open University and Learning Tree International. I’ve been an associate lecturer for the Open University since 2003 and currently tutor around 60 students a year on 3 different courses: Understanding Management, Business Organisations and their Environments, and Data, Computing and Information. There you can see where my interests lie – in business and in technology.
- I work with clients from large organisations and small.
My qualifications & memberships. You really want them? ok – here they are…

That’s what I say, but what do others say?
